Venue Policies for Dothan Civic Center & Dothan OPera House

Bag Policy

For security reasons, all bags brought into the venue must be clear. This includes diaper bags, clutch purses, small bags, and personal bags. A single clear-bag standard helps reduce confusion, speeds up entry, and allows our security staff to more easily identify prohibited items.

The maximum allowable clear bag size is 12” × 6” × 12”. Bags exceeding this size will not be permitted.

Medical Bags

We understand that some guests may need to bring essential medical supplies into the venue. Guests requiring medically necessary items are permitted to bring a medical bag, subject to the following guidelines:

  • Medical bags without medical devices must be clear.

  • Medical bags may not be used as purses and must contain medical necessities only.

  • Medical bags are subject to screening and approval by venue management at entry.

  • Advance notice is encouraged but not required.

Examples of permitted medical items include prescription medications, insulin, EpiPens, medical devices, and other medically necessary supplies.

Bag Screening

All bags, including approved medical bags, are subject to search and security screening upon entry. Inspections are conducted to ensure compliance with venue policies and to maintain a safe environment for all guests.

Guests with medical needs or questions regarding bag approval are encouraged to speak with Guest Services or venue staff upon arrival. Our team is committed to providing reasonable accommodations while maintaining security standards.

Guests should also ensure that permitted bags do not contain items prohibited under venue policy.

Weapons Policy

Weapons of any kind are prohibited inside Dothan Performing Arts venues.

This includes, but is not limited to, firearms, knives, pepper spray, tasers, chain wallets, and any other item determined by venue security to constitute a weapon or safety risk.

Guests found in possession of prohibited weapons may be denied entry or removed from the venue without refund and may be subject to applicable law.

Cashless Policy

Dothan Performing Arts venues are cashless facilities.

Cash is not accepted at the box office, concessions, bars, or other points of sale.

Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit, debit, and gift cards are accepted. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay are also accepted where available.

Re-Entry Policy

Re-entry is not permitted.

Once a guest enters the venue, they may not leave and return using the same ticket.

Guests should plan accordingly and bring all necessary permitted items with them before entering the venue.

Alcohol Policy

Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages.

Proper identification is required for guests under 35 years of age.

Guests are limited to the purchase of two alcoholic beverages per bar or concession visit.

Excessive alcohol consumption is not permitted. Guests who appear intoxicated or whose behavior presents a safety concern may be denied entry, refused alcohol service, or removed from the venue.

Dothan Performing Arts reserves the right to refuse alcohol service or venue entry when necessary for guest and staff safety.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited inside the venue. This includes cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and similar products.

There is no designated smoking area.

Guests should remember that the venue's No Re-Entry Policy applies if they leave the building.

Behavior Policy

All guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and appropriate manner toward other guests, performers, event participants, and venue staff.

Disruptive, threatening, offensive, unsafe, or violent behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the venue without refund.

Dress Code Policy

Guests are expected to wear appropriate attire while inside the venue.

Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times.

Clothing containing excessively offensive, threatening, or inappropriate language or imagery may not be permitted.

Venue management reserves the right to address attire that creates a safety concern or substantially disrupts an event.

In addition to weapons, the following items are prohibited inside the venue unless specifically authorized by venue management or event production:

  • Outside food or beverages

  • Laser pointers

  • Air horns or similar noise-making devices

  • Helium balloons

Photo & Video Policy

Photography, video recording, and audio recording may be restricted at select events.

Camera and recording policies may vary depending on the performer, promoter, production, or event.

Professional cameras, interchangeable-lens cameras, video equipment, audio recording equipment, tripods, monopods, and similar equipment may be prohibited unless specifically authorized.

Guests should review event-specific information before arrival or ask venue staff if they are unsure whether a device is permitted.

Bag Checks and Security Screening Policy

All guests and permitted belongings are subject to security screening upon entry.

Screening procedures may include bag inspections and other security measures deemed appropriate by venue management.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early and allow additional time for the entry process.

Age Restrictions Policy

Guests under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 19 years of age or older.

Parents or guardians may not drop off guests under 15 without an accompanying adult.

The accompanying adult must have a valid ticket when required and remain with the minor for the duration of the event.

Individual events may establish additional age restrictions.

Pets & Service Animals

Pets are not permitted inside the venue.

Service animals are permitted in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Alabama law. A service animal is defined as a dog, and in some cases a miniature horse, that has been individually trained to perform specific work or tasks for a person with a disability.

Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy animals are not considered service animals under the ADA and are not permitted.

Service animals must remain under the control of their handler at all times and must be housebroken. If a service animal is not under control or is disruptive, the handler may be asked to remove the animal from the venue.
